Truss conversion for additional living space in the loft

About Roof Trusses

If the structure of your loft/roof looks something like the one below read on.

Roof Trusses

What you have is called a 'Pre-Formed Truss Rafter' system.  This is a method of supporting a tiled roof where there are no interior brick or block walls to put the load of the roof on.  The system works well until the wooden trusses are cut through and they lose their strength.  Skilled experts can overcome and adjust the structure so this loss of strength will be avoided and your loft can still be converted.

Below we will answer some questions in case your loft/roof structure is build this way.

Can my roof be converted?
Yes.  In most cases, but only if a great amount of new designed strength is build in before any of the trusses are cut.

How is this done?
With a combination of steel beams, timber trimmers, new rafters and stout vertical stud supports.  These structural changes are all made before any work or cutting is started.

How do I know the roof is structurally sound?
Our experience goes back to 1969, and our high standards can be backed up by references from previous clients.  Every project is discussed with a structural engineer before we give you a final quotation.

How can I obtain a quote?
Agree an appointment with our surveyor, who will gather the necessary information for the structural engineer.  The quotation you receive is in writing and will have a 28 day price guarantee.

Do you draw and submit plans?
Yes.  After you place an order we take care of everything from plans to plaster.

How are the heavy steel beams put into the roof?
Sometimes with the presence of a crane, but more frequently in sections and re-assembled in location.

Dear Perry,

I am pleased with my new loftspace and I'm looking forward to moving in and to start using it as my new studio soon.  It was as enjoyable as it could be with Darren & Shaun and their friendly but efficient attitude.  Neighbours are expressing an interest in my new space, and I would have no reservations in recommending your firm to them.

Dear Perry,

We would like to take this opportunity to thank yourself and colleagues for the loft conversion undertaken at our home.

Throughout the conversion we were impressed by the friendliness of the team and the clean condition the house was left in at the end of each day.

Since the loft has been converted and our children are enjoying their new bedrooms we often comment on the impressive standard of work undertaken and would, without hesitation, provide your name to any of our friends.
