What is a Hip to Gable Conversion?

Hip to gable loft conversions are where the existing gable wall is built up to the ridge line of the roof and then a new section of roof is added to fill the gap. As a rule, if your property has a hip roof, this method is required to create the right level of interior volume for a loft conversion. Most properties are built with a sloping side which limits the space. With a hip to gable conversion, the sloping roof is replaced with a vertical wall that reaches the ridge height.

The Benefits of a Hip to Gable Conversion

Choosing a hip to gable loft conversion can maximise space for a variety of purposes, from creating a large master bedroom and en-suite to a study, kid’s playroom or even a gym! Hip to gable lofts are attractive both on the inside and outside and we are able to match the existing roof tiles to the new ones making a seamless transition.
